Typical during winter months, a chimney fire that extended into the attic of a 2 story house at 51 Palmer Rd. on December 22nd of 2007 caused considerable damage to the 2nd floor and attic before firefighters were able to open walls to attack the seat of the fire. (D. Johnson photos).

Firefighters were caught by surprise in June of 2007 when they discovered that a van burning in the rear yard of a local residence contained a large amount of pool chemicals including chlorine. The state DEP was notified.

An early morning fire in in a vacant house on Woodvale Rd. caused extensive damage to a raised-ranch style structure. The fire in December of 2006 was one of several suspicious fires in the
area at the time.
