BEYOND THE FIRE LINE
The Fire Dept. in Hamden, CT recently took delivery of a unique new Squad that will be running out of Town Hall Station on Dixwell
Ave. The rig sports a Spartan-Gladiator cab & chassis and a fully compartmented Marion body. A 1250 GPM pump and a 500 gallon
water tank give the squad plenty of "fire-power" and 20 gallons of both Class A & Class B foam piped directly into the cross-lays and
bumper line make it ideally suited for fighting fires involving flammable liquids.
It is also equipped with 1,000 feet of 5" LDH, a full set of Hurst rescue tools including spreaders, cutters & rams, a full set of high
pressure air bags and 2 sets of mountain rescue ropes & gear. Rounding out the array of special equipment, it also carries
confined space rescue equipment and 2 cold water rescue suits. The rig is the first of its kind in the area.
