
The New Haven Fire Department can be traced
back to 1789 when the volunteer department was formed.
In 1862 it was organized as a paid department.
Since that time over the past 142 years there have been only fifteen Fire Chiefs in command of the Department. New Haven Fire Department
An early morning 3-Alarm fire on December 12th of 2007 at the Brass Monkey Bar on Center St. ripped through the 1 story brick building before a massive assault by firefighters, under the direction of Chief Michael Grant, brought the flames under control. 8 businesses were lost.
